How to Get to Lovely Apartments, Karbuni, Korčula

Travelling by car gives you the most flexibility. Two ferry routes connect the mainland to Korčula island.

Route A — Split → Vela Luka ferry Most popular

The most convenient option for car travellers. Take the Jadrolinija car ferry directly from Split ferry port to Vela Luka on Korčula island.

  • Crossing time: approx. 2 h 45 min
  • Frequency: up to 3 departures per day in high season
  • From Vela Luka it is a 15-minute drive to Karbuni
  • Book tickets in advance — especially in summer — at jadrolinija.hr
  • Arrive at the port at least 45–60 minutes before departure
Check full timetables and current prices at putovnica.net — best overview of all available sailings.
Route B — Pelješac bridge → Orebić → Dominče ferry Alternative

Drive down the Adriatic coastal highway, cross the Pelješac bridge and take the short ferry from Orebić to Dominče (Korčula).

  • Ferry crossing: ~20 minutes, operated by Jadrolinija (route 634)
  • Very frequent: up to 22 sailings per day in high season — no pre-booking needed for most of the season
  • Foot passenger ticket from ~€2.30; car ticket extra
  • After Dominče, allow approx. 1 hour drive across Korčula island to reach Karbuni
  • Generally a cheaper ferry but a longer island drive compared to Route A
If you take the Pelješac Bridge route, you stay entirely within Croatia and the EU — no border crossing, no ID check required.

Croatia highway tolls

Croatia does not use a vignette system. You pay per distance at toll booths (cash, card, or ENC transponder). A typical passenger car pays approx. €26 on the Zagreb–Split stretch. For full toll rates visit hac.hr.

The nearest international airport is Split Airport (SPU), located in Kaštela, approximately 25 km from Split city centre and ferry port.

Fly into Split Airport (SPU)

Check flights and live departures at split-airport.hr. Car rental is available directly at the airport.

Airport → Split ferry port (~30 min drive)

The airport is about a 30-minute drive from Split ferry port. Options: rental car, airport shuttle bus to Split bus station (next to ferry port), or taxi.

Ferry Split → Vela Luka (~2 h 45 min)

Take the Jadrolinija car ferry to Vela Luka. Book at jadrolinija.hr. Full schedule overview at putovnica.net.

Vela Luka → Karbuni (~15 min drive)

A short, scenic drive along the coast brings you to the apartments. Car rental is also available locally in Vela Luka.

Dubrovnik Airport (DBV) is another option — from there, drive or take a bus north to Orebić, then use the short Orebić–Dominče ferry (~20 min), followed by a ~1 h drive across the island to Karbuni.
Catamarans are foot-passenger only — no cars or bicycles. Best for travellers arriving without a vehicle.

Two catamaran operators connect Split to Korčula. Both are seasonal (typically April–October). For the full timetable overview see putovnica.net.
